10th May 2010: Hilly Rocks To The Rescue

It's been many years since I last made some "natural" terrain. So recently I started to crack on with a sort of rock/hill idea I've had for a while. I basically just hacked them out of XPS. Due to the importance of vehicles in the current 40K rules, the basic plan with these things is to cover just enough of the board to make it very difficult for vehicle based armies to move around, and give some control back to good old foot-sloggin' forces. They will be impassable terrain for vehicles, but infantry and the like will take difficult terrain tests to get up and down from the hills.
Here's some photies of the progress so far...

17th April 2010: Red Bugs

Yet more spraying - all my Nidz are now undercoated, and I've started to wash the warriors and Carnifex:

14th April 2010: From Beneath You...

Still been doing plenty of spraying. All of my Marines and Guard are now at the very least undercoated. So that's just Nidz, Tau, Eldar and Witch Hunters left to spray.
Today I finally got round to doing some work on me Nidz. Got the Warriors back battle ready by making them all devourers and rending claws. Luckily the glue I used years ago on my old models was pretty damn crappy. It's also lucky I paint slower than a pissed tortoise. Any way here they are so far with another new addition:

Just those winged Warriors to hack up and give deathspitters to. And I reckon my old Carni would do as a Swarmlord if I converted it up a bit...

27th March 2010: The Colour Of Xenos

Been doing plenty of spraying today. Just how fast do the GW spray cans run out? Undercoated my Drop Pod, 3 Rhino-style tanks, 2 Land Speeders, a Dred, about 20 Marines and 20 Battle Sisters and the entire brand new can is empty. GW scum.
Anyway, because I've got such a massive volume of painting to do I fancied trying other types of spray to get other base colours very quickly. To that end I've tried some more Halfords sprays after being impressed by their grey primer on my Imperial Guard tanks. As it is my Xenos allied force that has suffered the most neglect, I went hunting for colours for those. I decided to change my Eldar scheme from green to red so I could use the red primer which I'm very impressed with. But I took a chance on a light blue, as it wasn't a primer but a top coat car spray. That one has not gone on as well, even over the grey primer. Even so, it would cut a massive amount of time out of my painting schedule if I were to use it.
Here's a pic of the test models with the undercoat followed by a hefty wash (I do love the new GW washes but damn it they stink).

Also, done a little bit more work at long last on my Farseer, mainly making sure there's some red in there to match the new scheme.
