1st November 2022: You're A Star

It's been a long time since I last painted any Blood Bowl models. This is especially true for the star players, as they rarely get used in games.

Still, I've painted a few such models in the past, but for some reason, images of them haven't existed on my site since way back in 2012 or something.

So I took some new photos. And now they exist again.

Sweet.

11th October 2022: A Long Forgotten Quest

<Old Stuff>

I've no idea why, but the other day I thought back to the few games of Warhammer Quest that I played with Scoob back in 2014, and realised the images of the miniatures I painted for it were not here yet.

To be honest, they need stripping and re-painting, as you can see how rough the spray undercoat went down.

Our adventures in Warhammer Quest started with Zilean the wizard, Varus the Elf, Gragas the slayer, and Ezreal the warrior priest.

The first of our four missions, which was called "The Beast", was the only one this team managed to succeed at.

The second mission, "Destroy The Warpstone Icon", saw our team get overwhelmed by enemies and we had to pull them out.

Near the beginning of the third mission, a rock fall happened and blocked us off from heading further into the dungeon.

And then disaster struck in mission 4, when Varus got killed, and Ezreal fell down a pit, unable to be recovered.

We were thinking of quitting, but instead decided to step up to a 6-man party, and print off some bigger dungeon tiles to play on. That's when Scoob and I bought our Reaper Bones miniatures (which are shown above), but we never actually did get around to playing the game again.

Oh well, maybe one day...

6th October 2022: All On Board For Games

I recently enjoyed the chance to get some board games back to the table.

Up first was Munchkin, which I was playing for only the second time. Gareth managed to pull out the win while me and my sister furiously kicked at the door to level 10.

Then my two new games from back in February got their chances. It took us a few games to fully figure out how to play There's Been A Murder, as the game rules are a bit vague, but we got there in the end. To be honest, it did not seem that difficult, at least for 4 players, as we won all the games we played.

One game that is quite hard, provided you are playing as Mister X that is, is Scotland Yard. I was up first, and it did not take long for the other players to wrangle me into an inescapable corner. Gareth then tried his hand as the murderer, and gave us the run around far longer than I did. But even then, some lucky moves by our assisting police officer kept him on his toes long enough for us to close in and capture him also.

1st July 2022: Shakespeare's Dark Lady

I have attempted my first couple of games of Black Sonata. The first of these was an utter failure. I saw one deduction possibility from the first two clue cards I got, and for some reason ended up hyper focusing on that single idea. The next few clue cards I got did nothing to turn me away from the path, and only seemed to confirm my belief more. So when I confronted the Dark Lady and found that I was completely wrong, I ended up very confused. That was, until I went back to those first 2 cards and saw the other option that was available that I had completely missed. Moron.

So in my second playthough, I made no such mistakes, and was very careful to methodically check and double check all the options as I gained more information.

But the real Dark Lady can not escape me on my second attempt

I quite like the game to be honest, but there's a lot of luck in anticipating where the Dark Lady will go. This will only get harder as I start to use more difficult stealth decks, as well as new modules that can be added in from the expansion.
It will be interesting, no doubt.
